Dassault Syst�mes and NTT COM Form Sustainability Agreement for Japanese Smart Cities

High carbon emissions and pollution are wreaking havoc on global environmental health, especially in urban environments. As a result, many citizens across the globe are calling on business leaders to halt their destructive business practices, and search for eco-friendly alternatives for a brighter future.

This is especially true in the area of smart city development, as many of the builders responsible for designing these high-tech landscapes are keeping environmental safety in focus. This week, 3D simulation solution company Dassault Systèmes and NTT Communications announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding, to create a sustainability alliance for smart city development projects in Japan.  As part of this new business relationship, the two companies will collaborate using virtual twin technology and data analytics to create greener smart city development methods.

“NTT Com has accumulated a lot of experience in a number of city development and smart city projects,” said Junya Kaga, Smart City Department Deputy Director, NTT Com. “With deep know-how and ICT knowledge of city planning and development areas, we have worked hard on several initiatives, using digital twins, in which we aim to create smarter cities. 

The partnership between Dassault and NTT COM will likely prove to be a harmonious one, as both companies provide unique services for smart city initiatives. With Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform, planners and investors can view 3D simulations using real-world data to test potential eco-friendly development ideas. NTT COM can fuel these simulations with the help of the Smart Data Platform, a unique operating system which consolidates city data from communications and IoT sources to optimize business solutions.
